King Mat

Focused? Determined? Stubborn? What word or phrase could better describe RespectSurvivalLoyalty emcee “King Mat”, born Kudzai Joshua Matandani September 1992 in Harare, Zimbabwe.
“Mat” describes his induction into rap experience and culture as pre-determined, “I never wanted to rap on a public scale. I was more into writing poetry, reading, acting, and the arts.
If you asked me what I wanted to be I couldn’t tell you consistently what I wanted to do. I sort of grew into rap because I could express myself in rhythm, style and unhinged ignorance at times. I’m not a rapper. I can rap is all.”
A character in himself King Mat is confident in his words and although comes across as larger than life and old school in his exotic themes and topics, I can sense a borderline passive-aggressive demeanor. “I’ve had many discussions with different people I interact with. Who do I make my music for?
What do I intend to achieve with my records? I’m really tempted to tell them I’m interested in making something inspiring but I just do it for vibrations. I want to create an impression. Good or bad as long as its something on either of the poles.
I make this music for me. My true wish is just to reach the pinnacle of lyrical expression and be wise enough to say something that could help or educate someone out there. The rest is just kicking styles. I love the art of rap.”
Heavily influenced by New York rap (Styles-P, Roc-Marciano,Action Bronson) and artists like Curren$y,WestsideGunn and WillieTheKid. Mat’s music is a lyrical parade and fusion of style unseen on the African scene evident of a differently influenced early 90’s generation which sticks to lyrical roots whilst tackling millennial themes. – Sophie Lee9 (RSL Ent. is an independent music and art label)

Well, what can I say about myself? I’m your typical hip-hop only producer dibbing and dabbing in the unorthodox. I can rap and occasionally sing but I honestly prefer to jot down songs.
I like working with energetic artists who are ultimately ready to leave their comfort zone. Check out my work and send me a sign if you are down to work.

“Tasi” born Tasimbiswa Darryl Chamboko, is a hip hop recording artist hailing from Harare, Zimbabwe. Growing up in Malbereign, he first came across Rap and R&B through his sisters music collection. His own musical journey started at the age of 10 under the name “Young D” with collaborator and producer friend McZee in a bedroom turned studio which found the two making music at every opportunity they could.
As time went on, Young D would change his name to “Cronixx” and became heavily influenced by artists such as Lil Wayne, Eminen, Naeto C and Wiz Khalifa to mention a few whilst he also developed his own unique and fresh sound. In 2015 following the release of two singles “Dab” and “Robin Hood”, Cronixx decided to adopt his true name “Tasi” as he felt his music was becoming more personal and reflective.
